  • Regulation of the Department of Health

Starting in 2004, the Department of Health – the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has introduced a phased implementation of the Medical Device Administrative System and has set strict guidelines to monitor the supply and use of medical devices in Hong Kong.

To ensure the safety of the public, the system includes:

  1. Evaluating medical devices for their safety, efficacy and quality in the face of public health.
  2. The formal monitoring system for medical devices after the introduction of the market, including medical malpractice reporting
  3. Ensuring that the product information is sufficient – the public and users always have sufficient support and the right to know the safe use of medical equipment at all times.

The following websites have been set up by the Department of Health to enable the public to check the suppliers of medical devices currently listed in the Department of Health.
